AUSTIN, Texas - March 5, 2007 - More than 900 REALTORS® from across the state attended the Texas REALTORS® Winter Meeting, Feb. 23-27 at the Hyatt Regency. Exceeding attendance numbers of the last 15 years, the association's 2007 meeting featured enhanced educational opportunities and nationally recognized keynote speakers.
During the five-day annual gathering, Texas REALTORS® heard from notable speakers including Gov. Rick Perry, Texas Monthly Senior Executive Editor Paul Burka and state Sen. Florence Shapiro. Meeting participants also heard from Mark Dotzour, chief economist with the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, and Avis Wukasch, 2007 chairman of the Texas Association of REALTORS®.
Key topics discussed at the Austin meeting included property-appraisal reform, other legislative issues affecting homeowners, commercial real estate trends, professional standards, international real estate, technology, customer service, property leasing and risk reduction.
In addition to educational sessions and speakers, the Texas Association of REALTORS® honored its Education Program of the Year, Educator of the Year, William C. Jennings Commercial Transaction of the Year, Omega Tau Rho designates and Realtor of the Year.
